    Default DPF Regen Force/Inhibit Question

Working on our first Tier 4 engine project & had a question regarding the J1939 message for Diesel Particulate Filter Regeneration Inhibit & Force. It looks like I can do these by changing the values of bits 1-4 of byte 6 (SPNs 3695 & 3696) in PGN 57344 (Cab Message 1).

My question is what should the values of the other bits/bytes in the transmit blocks’ DATA array be? Thanks.

Any time you want to transmit J1939 data and you are only concerned with specific SPNs in the PGN, you set the rest of the bits to true. So a byte that is to be ignored would be sent as 16#FF. in the case of buttons/switches. All bits in the byte are true except for the 2 bits associated with each button you are trying to send. This is why they use 2 bits for an ON/OFF condition. 2 true bits means ignore the data.

    Thanks for the information.
